Indoor Pre-Wedding Locations

Recently, The Wedding Scoop approached Studiokel to share more about our favourite indoor pre-wedding locations. While we absolutely love outdoor shoots (wind, sun, messy hair!), we love the charm and allure of some indoor spots. Here are some of our favourites.

(1) The Great Madras Boutique Hotel
Why? Gorgeous architectural details, texture and colour in a location… all that creating a unique energy in a space. The Great Madras Boutique is a quirky, charming little hotel that offers a narrative of tropical asia meets curious traveller at each corner. Working closely with the hotel management Mr Barkarth to ensure other hotel guests are not disturbed, I invite couples to soak up the journey through private nooks and neon lights. It’s a bit like like going down a rabbit hole – or having one too many rounds of lychee gin and tonic – or both. 

(2) First Date Locations: Five on Emerald Hill Why? Shophouses are one of the most gorgeous, historic buildings in Singapore. So for couples who embrace history and local flavour, I recommend well-conserved shophouse joints that are welcoming of a shoot – specially if it beats special meaning to the couple (i.e. first date location). Five on Emerald Hill is a quaintly styled establishments, harking back to an earlier era in Singapore. From the stairway railings to the window dressing, to preserved tile-work and the devilish details. Photographing here fills me with nostalgia so unique to the courtship days of a couple who loves an old world charm – and a tipple. 

(3) Couple’s own homeWhy? Lastly, my hands-down favourite indoor location has to be a couple’s home. Their own little private space. Each home unique and reflective of each individual personality, and their co-existence. The visual story doesn’t get more personal than shooting at home. Being comfortable in their own homes, couples adopt a more intimate love language. This brings about more authentic, timeless captures of that special stage of their lives.
