What is Beauty? When the amazing story-telling guru former Radio DJ Petrina Kow approached me to ask if I would be open to expressing my perception of beauty through my camera lens for the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2018, I knew immediately that I wanted to capture beauty in its rawest state. To embrace individuality, authenticity, and vulnerability. To honour each woman’s honesty and truth, and to create portraits not around perfect bodies, but around perfect souls. To honour the beautifully imperfect individual in all of us.

I had the honour of sitting with a bunch of inspiring women from different walks of life, listening to their stories, and working with each of them to create some portraits. I dont think any single image can fully capture one’s beauty, but I’m honoured to have had a moment with each woman, to capture a glimpse of that rawness. Entirely untouched, unedited, real. That, to me, is beauty in its best form.

Thank you, Petrina Kow and the team at M1 Singapore Fringe Festival for believing in my vision, and to the fabulous women Anita G Kapoor, Arianna Pozzuoli  De Bo Rah Emmanuel, Frances Lee, Oniatta Effendi and Dr Uma Rajan for being so true.

Now you can partake in their stories, and soak up their stories of what they each perceive as beautiful, what life experiences shaped them, What makes them glow. Do gather your fellow beauties, and I hope you will join us next weekend.
